About the Course

  • What is The Novel Lab?: A 10-month online course designed to help Canadian writers complete a novel with guidance from award winning storytelling mentors and a supportive cohort.

  • Who’s it for?: Emerging or mid-level Canadian writers committed to finishing a manuscript.

  • What do you get?: Craft feedback, dramaturgical mentorship, milestone tracking, and a public reading opportunity.

  • What is the Tuition?: A $25 non-refundable application fee is required to have your submission reviewed. Applicants who are accepted into the program will be required to pay a $3,000 tuition fee for the full 10-month course.


The P2P Novel Lab is a transformative 10-month online writing journey (September 2025 to June 2026) designed specifically for Canadian writers who are ready to develop and complete their novel-length manuscript.


Selected through a competitive application process, accepted applicants receive personalized dramaturgical feedback and mentorship and peer support. Throughout the program, we will work closely with you to sharpen your craft, meet monthly milestones, and stay motivated!


The Novel Lab culminates in an optional celebratory public reading event, giving you a platform to share your work and mark a major milestone in your writing journey.


Our mission is simple: to empower Canadian writers like you to complete your novel in a nurturing, craft-focused environment with expert guidance and a creative community cheering you on.

Chelsey Fawcett

Chelsey Fawcett is an award-winning Canadian director, playwright, speculative fiction writer, performer, and producer whose storytelling career spans stage, screen, and animation. With a Master's in Directing from the University of Ottawa and a deep foundation in dramaturgy, Chelsey has spent years shaping stories from the inside out; guiding narrative structure, refining character arcs, and ensuring emotional and thematic cohesion across mediums. Her work in theatre and film, both in Canada and internationally, reflects a strong commitment to story integrity and creative collaboration. Now, she brings that same dramaturgical precision to the world of novel writing, helping emerging authors craft immersive, emotionally resonant stories that connect deeply with readers.

K.J. Herman

K.J. Herman is a multidisciplinary creative with a passion for helping storytellers bring their ideas to life. As a speculative fiction writer and award-winning short film filmmaker, K.J. brings a deep understanding of narrative structure, world-building, and visual storytelling to her mentorship. Trained in the Meisner acting technique at The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York and with formal studies in Graphic Design for Advertising at the Alberta University of the Arts, K.J.'s past experience helps her to inject clarity, emotion, and visual impact into every story, guiding writers to shape their ideas into fully realized, compelling narratives.
